In the 1800’s, Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered Reiki in the Sanskrit scriptures of Tibetan Buddhism, an ancient hands-on healing tradition. In subsequent meditation, he was graced with the ability to channel Reiki energy.
Reiki (ray-key) is an ancient Tibetan hands-on healing technique that balances body, mind and spirit. It brings health, joy and deep relaxation, which allows our being to do its work without having to work around the stress we carry day to day. Reiki is a hands-on healing modality that works on three levels – mental-emotional, physical and spiritual. Reiki is not a religion. It is a holistic approach to health and well-being. Reiki energy allows the practitioner to receive information about the client, which can assist them on their healing journey. Reiki heals, nurtures and rejuvenates all aspects of your life and being. The recipient’s innate intelligence decides how to use the energy. Reiki literally has the power to transform lives.
The Five Principles of Reiki
JUST FOR TODAY, DO NOT WORRY
JUST FOR TODAY, DO NOT ANGER
JUST FOR TODAY, HONOR YOUR PARENTS, TEACHERS AND ELDERS
JUST FOR TODAY, EARN YOUR LIVING HONESTLY
JUST FOR TODAY, SHOW GRATITUDE TO EVERY LIVING THING

How does it work?
The practitioner transfers healing energy by placing their hands on or above the recipient who lies fully clothed on a massage table or sits in a chair, if unable to lay on a massage table.
Treatments are usually in a dimly lit room with soothing music playing to amplify relaxation. If comfortable for the recipient, the practitioner may burn candles or incense, again to heighten the recipient’s relaxation. Some may feel warmth and almost immediate relaxation, but everyone’s reaction can be very different.
